About the Artist

Stephanie Ehmen is a renowned artist specializing in dollmaking and has received awards for her work.

She started crafting dolls in 1989 and over time, acquired techniques and skills from various Doll Artisan Guild teachers and instructors. Throughout the years, she achieved the ranks of Master of Dollmaking, Grand Master of Dollmaking, and the prestigious Triple Crown of Dollmaking honors from the Guild. The TCDM (Triple Crown Doll Maker) title represents the highest accolade bestowed by the Guild. Along her journey, she won ribbons in competitions for her porcelain dolls and their costumes. In 1998, she took on the role of a Doll Artisan Guild Instructor, traveling to teach the history and techniques of dollmaking.

Beyond the artistry involved in painting and assembling porcelain dolls, she has a passion for the history of antique dolls, particularly the fashions, fabrics, and the cultural influences reflected in their clothing.

From a young age, she was introduced to sewing by her mother, beginning with outfits for Barbie dolls. As she refined her skills, she realized she shared her grandmother's knack for analyzing a garment and replicating it. This skill led to her meeting the demand for doll patterns among dollmakers.

Stephanie, now semi-retired, works from home crafting authentic reproductions of antique dolls and designing costumes and patterns.
